Degrees of Comparison – Bangku Sekolah
Degrees of comparison digunakan ketika kita membandingkan satu hal dengan hal yang lain atau untuk menunjukkan tingkatan suatu benda/hal. Sebagai contoh, kita membandingkan 2 rumah dan mengatakan bahwa rumah A lebih besar dari rumah B.
Jenis Degrees of Comparison
Degrees of comparison terbagi menjadi 3 jenis, yaitu :
1. Positive Degree, digunakan ketika bicara tentang seseorang / suatu hal. Contoh :
- Amin is a rich man
- She is beautiful girl
- The tiger is a strong animal
2. Comparative Degree, digunakan ketika kita membandingkan dua hal atau dua orang. Contoh :
- Rossi is faster than Pedrosa
- Iwan is taller than Deden
- This house is bigger than that one
3. Superlative Degree, digunakan ketika menyatakan suatu hal memiliki tingkatan paling tinggi. Contoh :
- This is the tallest building
- Jakarta is one of the busiest cities in Indonesia
- Cheetah is one of the fastest animal
Daftar Degrees of Comparison
Model-1, dengan menambahkan akhiran -er dan -est, contoh :

Model-3, dengan mengganti akhiran –y menjadi -ier dan -iest, contoh :

- Jakarta is one of the busiest cities in Indonesia. (Superlative)
- Jakarta is busier than most other cities in Indonesia. (Comparative)
- Very few cities in Indonesia are as busy as Jakarta . (Positive)
